The current regional era of women’s cricket, which started in 2020, has concluded and the ECB’s new structure sees the domestic women’s teams returning to being run by single counties across the country.

There will be eight ‘Tier 1’ teams, ten ‘Tier 2’, with ‘Tier 3’ teams comprising of National Counties to be confirmed. Tier 1 will be a fully professional set up with clubs being required to contract a minimum of 15 full-time players to their squads.

This means that the South East Stars team, which has been a partnership between Surrey and Kent, will no longer continue in its current form.

Surrey have been awarded a Tier 1 side and will compete in the Women’s Vitality Blast and Women’s Metro Bank One Day Competitions next season against the other Tier 1 sides. There will also be a knockout T20 competition, involving all three tiers playing an ‘FA Cup’ style tournament.

Kent have been awarded a Tier 2 team and will compete in T20 and 50-over competitions, including the knockout competition, with further details to be announced when the fixtures are released for 2025.

From 1 November 2024, the South East Stars website and social media channels will no longer be updated.
