Alice Davidson-Richards and Tilly Corteen-Coleman were the stars of season awards night as South East Stars signed off the regional era in style at the Kia Oval.
Amongst friends, family, teammates, and colleagues, the evening was hosted by Emma Calvert, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket for the Stars who will join Surrey as Director of Women’s Cricket this winter.
Davidson-Richards, having had an exceptional season where she topped the run-scoring charts (650 runs) in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flinch Trophy, clinched Players’ Player of the Year, 50-over Player of the Year and the Stars Value Player of the Year. Closing the season brilliantly, the all-rounder smashed four consecutive half-centuries, including a clutch 90* in the semi-final and a brilliant 93 in the final.
Following a sensational debut season, left-arm spinner Corteen-Coleman ended the night by bagging Outstanding Moment of the Year and T20 Player of the Year awards. She claimed 16 wickets in the Charlotte Edwards Cup – whilst going an astonishing economy rate of 5.13 – and added nine more scalps to her season’s tally in the 50-over competition. Her best performance came in a T20 against Northern Diamonds, where she took four wickets in four balls and finished with figures of 5/19.
The Academy awards were split between Charlotte Stubbs, Charlotte Lambert, and Darcey Carter. Stubbs was named the Players’ Player of the Year as well as Stars Value Player of the Year. Lambert was honoured as the Breakthrough Player of the Year and Carter won the Outstanding Moment of the Year award.
Rebecca Denman did the double in the Emerging Player Programme awards, claiming Player of the Year and Stars Value Player of the Year honours. Ivreen Kaur Dhaliwal received Breakthrough Player of the Year award and Daisy Brandon got the Impact Player of the Year.
