South East Stars’ all-rounders Alice Davidson-Richards and Paige Scholfield have been named in the PCA Team of the Month, after enjoying a brilliant September with the bat and the ball.

In a fruitful month, which saw Davidson-Richards recalled to the England ODI squad, the versatile all-rounder led the Stars to crucial victories and helped them reach the play-offs, striking a sensational century against The Blaze as well as picking up 3 for 20 against Central Sparks.

Davidson-Richards finished the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint trophy with 322 runs in her bank – the second-most for her side – and with 15 scalps to her name – again, the joint second-highest wicket-taker for the Stars.

Her fellow all-rounder, who was also her partner-in-chief during the breath-taking fifth-wicket stand of 119 runs against The Blaze, Scholfield ended her first season in the Stars colours as the team’s leading run-getter, as well as the fourth-highest in the tournament standings, with a tally of 439 runs at an average of nearly 40 to go with her eight wickets with the ball.

The PCA uses its Most Valuable Player Rankings (MVP) to decide the Teams of the Month. The system works by comparing a player’s accomplishments against the expected performance for that game. Runs and wickets achieved at each ground are also considered and compared to the average, thus enabling players to score or lose MVP points on every ball through CricViz’s extensive historical database.

September’s Team of the Month, which is captained by Southern Vipers’ Georgia Adams, and the selected players MVP points are as follows:

  1. Grace Scrivens – 62.96
  2. Lauren Winfield-Hill – 50.14 (WK)
  3. Georgia Adams – 95.53 (C)
