Alice Capsey and Sophia Dunkley have been named in England’s squads for the upcoming tour of India this December, with Alice Capsey in line to make her Test debut.
England take on India in a three match, T20 series before playing a one-off four-day Test match in Mumbai. Heather Knight’s side will travel to Oman (17 November-2 December) for a training camp before their opening IT20 fixture at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday 6 December.
Meanwhile, four more Stars have been named for an England A training camp in Oman ahead of their series against India A. Alice Davidson-Richards, Tash Farrant, Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Kalea Moore have all received call ups to the 21-player squad which runs 12-25 November. A 14-player squad will then be named to take on India A in a three-match T20 series, with the unselected players staying on to work with the England side.
Following surgery for a stress fracture of the lumbar spine in June, Tash Farrant is included where she will continue to build up her bowling load.
Head coach Jon Lewis said: “We have a nice blend of youth and experience. It’s an exciting squad and a group that is ready to take on the challenge of what will be a really tough series in India.
“We haven’t toured India for a number of years. We have players who have experienced playing in the Women’s Premier League but many haven’t played international cricket there before. Playing in Indian conditions is great preparation for our next two World Cups in the subcontinent and will be an amazing learning opportunity for both the players and the staff.
“We respect the Indian team and are really looking forward to the challenge.”
